Pilates
Pilates is an invigorating form of exercise for your mind and body that will improve your strength, flexibility, coordination and overall mobility. As a result your posture will change and you will move more efficiently. You will achieve a strong core, develop longer leaner muscles and improve your overall sense of well-being.
The Matwork classes are in small groups of no more than 5 people, and lasts 60 mins. The exercises are performed on a mat, sometimes using small pieces of equipment, It is your body working against gravity that provides the biggest challenge. Classes will focus on specific areas whilst using exercises that integrate the whole body to re-educate and restore it to optimum muscular and skeletal function.
Osteo-Pilates sessions last 75 mins and are an individually designed combination of one-on-one Pilates instruction and osteopathic treatment. (For example.. .30 mins Pilates with 45 mins osteopathy). Based on an anatomical understanding of the body's muscular and skeletal systems, the Pilates teacher creates a comprehensive exercise programme for you. The teacher will carry out a postural assessment and tailor a programme especially for you, modifying the exercises to suit your individual needs and ability. As you progress, your teacher will be able to give you a greater variety of exercises, still adapting each one for you so that your body and mind are continually challenged.
